As an avid animal lover all my life, I have loved and cared for many pets. I was inspired by an article that I read one day about making a career out of pet sitting / dog walking. I just thought ‘Wow…That’s an awesome idea!” I did some research and found a great book by Patty Moran. I also joined her club, Pet Sitter’s International, which has proved to be a great industry resource.
I opened Pets Here and Now Pet Sitting in Hamilton in 2003. Since then, my business continues to grow and thrive in Hamilton and the surrounding communities, including, Wenham, Beverly, Danvers, Ipswich, and Manchester. My daughter, Lauren, an animal lover herself, works full time with me at Pets Here and Now.
Lauren and I take the business very seriously. It’s our family name and reputation. Pets Here and Now is also bonded and insured and we have plenty of references in Hamilton and the surrounding communities. We pride ourselves on being good neighbors and caring for the pets and the families we sit for.
Pets Here and Now boasts a variety of services, including group hikes Monday through Friday in the woods, private walks, overnight care, and pet care visits. Lauren and I go above and beyond your normal part-time pet sitting business since we are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and specialize in overnights and pets with special needs. Our overnight services comfort animals since they like sameness and routine. They like to sleep in their own bed…drink from their own bowl. They like to be in their own home. Another benefit from choosing an overnight service is overall health. No Stress. No anxiety (for animal or owner). I remember when I used to drop my dog off at a facility and the anxiety that overcame me. A vacation is better spent having fun and not worrying about your furry friend in an unfamiliar place. I have been there as a pet owner.
The difference between my business and others is that we are family owned, available 24 hours, and there are no cancellation or interview fees. In addition, we offer full transport for animals to and from the veterinarian or groomers while my clients are at work. Honestly, Lauren and I really care about, not only the pets we work with, but their owners too.
Trust is an important factor in pet sitting. Our clients are great references for our services, especially for overnight care. I send the mail to our clients (when away for an extended period of time), water the plants and take out the trash…anything to make your life a little easier and stress free. The people are as important as the animals. I have a lot of people skills and we truly do care about our clients.
